Faith Chronicles

A month of daily readings, written by Dr RJ Sing for his church every month from 2007 until his passing in 2024. Pastor Zubeda Sing wrote alongside him, and she continues them today. Each reading has its scripture, the teaching, a confession and the day's Bible reading plan.

In 2021 and 2022 he also wrote daily messages for believers in business and at work — the Marketplace, kept with the rest of his writing on his own site.

The Fruit of Love

Pastor Zubeda Sing

“But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law” Galatians 5v22-23

    Tasting the Goodness of God

“The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither” John 5v15

Jesus came to the well at Samaria, where he met the Samaritan woman. This woman was not a covenant child of God, yet he spoke to her, knowing her sin and where she was in…

    Sacrificing your Pleasure

“Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2Corinthians 5v6-8

Paul loved the Lord passionately and loved His people very much. His greatest desire was to be with the Lord. The pressures of life and the persecution was so severe that…

    Face your Goliath

“Then his brothers went and fell down before him [in confession]; then they said, “Behold, we are your servants (slaves).” But Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? [Vengeance is His, not mine.] As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present outcome, that many people would be kept alive [as they are this day]. So now, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and support you and your little ones.” So he comforted them [giving them encouragement and hope] and spoke [with kindness] to their hearts” Gen 50v18-21

David faced Goliath. David knew he was in covenant with a living God so when he faced Goliath he was confident that he would defeat him. He defeated him.

We Do Not Wrestle Against Flesh and Blood

“She followed after Paul and us and kept screaming and shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God! They are proclaiming to you the way of salvation!” She continued doing this for several days. Then Paul, being greatly annoyed and worn out, turned and said to the spirit [inside her], “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ [as His representative] to come out of her!” And it came out at that very moment.” Acts 16v17-18

Paul and Silas were ministering in the city and many people were being touched. Here was this girl following them saying they were servants of the Most High God. In our d…

Fight the Good Fight of Faith

“I’m charging you before the life-giving God and before Christ, who took his stand before Pontius Pilate and didn’t give an inch: Keep this command to the letter, and don’t slack off. Our Master, Jesus Christ, is on his way. He’ll show up right on time, his arrival guaranteed by the Blessed and Undisputed Ruler, High King, High God. He’s the only one death can’t touch, his light so bright no one can get close. He’s never been seen by human eyes—human eyes can’t take him in! Honor to him, and eternal rule! Oh, yes.” 1Timothy 6v 13-16

Paul instructs Timothy, fight the good fight of faith. Fight through every difficulty and challenge. He is not talking about a physical fight where you use weapons. No! b…

    Understanding the Timing of God

“And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season; Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity]” Psalm 1v3

There is perfect timing in God. There is a season and a time for everything in our lives. God planned for our lives before the foundations of the earth. Nothing just happ…

    Rest in the Chaos

“The very night before Herod was to bring him forward, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries were in front of the door guarding the prison. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared [beside him] and a light shone in the cell. The angel struck Peter’s side and awakened him, saying, “Get up quickly!” And the chains fell off his hands.” Acts 12v6-7

This is an amazing account of the rest of God. Peter was in jail, he was jailed by Herod and about to be put to death the next day. However, when you read the account of …

    Conquering the Darkness

“Saul got up from the ground, but though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; so they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. And he was unable to see for three days, and he neither ate nor drank.” Acts 9v7-9

Paul, who was named Saul at the time of this scripture being written, was persecuting the church until He encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus. What an encounter. He…

    Being Persuaded

“By patience and a calm spirit a ruler may be persuaded, And a soft and gentle tongue breaks the bone [of resistance]” Prov 25v15

The entrance of the word, brings light. As we hear and obey the word of God, we become persuaded that God is able to provide for us, God is able to protect us and He has …

    Walking Boldly Into the Unknown

“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:” Gen 12 v 1-2

Abraham was given an instruction by God, “get out of your country and go to a land that I will show you”. There was no clear directions given, there was no indication as…

    Embrace the Blessing

“And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.” 2KINGS 2V9-11

Elijah was about to go and be with the Lord and he looked at Elisha and asked what he wanted from him before he left. Elijah was so acquainted with the anointing and comf…

Nothing Can Separate Us From the Love of God

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” Rom 8 v38-39

The love of God is unending. There is nothing in this world that you can do to get God to love you more. He loves you, that is it. He has mercy and compassion towards you…
