Art of Practicing to Avoid Distractions
The partnership letter for October 2008
Greetings to you in the Powerful name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I trust you are having a great month, and enjoying the fullness of God’s blessings. This month I would like to share with you on the ‘Art of Practicing to Avoid Distractions’ in so that you can achieve what God has called you to do.
“Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father. And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah. And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon, And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, [Art] thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I [am]. Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread. And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place: For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest. He said unto him, I [am] a prophet also as thou [art]; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. [But] he lied unto him.”
I encourage you to read and study the whole of chapter 13 of 1 Kings. This will give you insight on how the Prophet was disobedient and lost his life in the process. What happened to him? He was distracted. So, as you begin this month, Practice the Art of not being distracted. I also encourage you to purchase the DVD or CD of the service and listen to it again and again. It will bless you and keep you focused throughout your life.
Many people are busy. They are busy doing things but accomplishing little. It is also sad to see how these people influence others to follow them. It is as Jesus mentioned, “The Blind leading the blind”. This is not your portion in life. You are being led by God’s Holy Spirit. Follow your heart and convictions. Refuse to be double minded. Be steadfast in your faith and service to God. Be single minded and beware of distractions.
Now let us consider, The *Seven Steps that you should take note of
- Step 1: Avoid the Distraction that come from people, who have not heard from God, the way you have.
- Step 2: Avoid the distraction that comes by trying to compete.
- Step 3: The Distraction of Phone calls.
- Step 4: The Distraction of False Brethren.
- Step 5: The Distraction of Carnal leaders and people who are not as committed as you are.
- Step 6: Avoid the distraction of unproductive arguments and quarrels.
“But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.”
“ For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.”
- Step 7: Avoid doing other people’s jobs.
“Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples [unto them], and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.”
I know you have been blessed with this message. I encourage you to put these into practice and watch your life move to another level.
Pastor Zubeda and I love you very much and thank God for you. May God continue to richly bless you and your family.
With Love,PASTORS ROSHAN & ZUBEDA SING
