Another opportunity is on its Way
The partnership letter for September 2013
Greetings to all my precious Partners in Christ Jesus our Lord. This month I would like to share with you along the lines of ‘*Another opportunity is on its Way’*
My foundational scriptures are as follows, 2 Kings 5:9-12 “9 Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha. 10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. 11 But Naaman was wroth, and went away and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come to me , and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 12[Are] not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? May I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.
“13 and his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, [If] the prophet had bid thee [do some] great thing, wouldest thou not have done [it]? How much rather then, when he saith to thee Wash, and be clean? 5:14 Then he went down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan , according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.5:15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that [there is] no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.
Opportunity: A suitable time or set of circumstances for doing something. (Chance, time, moment, opening, break)
Introduction:
Before Modern harbors, a ship had to wait for the high tide, before coming into port. The term for this was ‘Ob Porter’. This signified a ship standing over, against a port waiting for the Right Moment. When the right moment came, it could ride into port. The English word ‘Opportunity’ is derived from this original meaning. The Captain and the crew are waiting for this one moment. They knew that if they missed it, they would have to wait.
Shakespeare spoke about Opportunity:
“There is a tide in the affairs of men, which at the flood, leads on to the fortune, omitted, all the Voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries on such a full sea we are now afloat and we must take the current when it serves or lose our ventures.
Without question we must move speedily when the tide is high to sweep us into the harbor. Delay will keep us from our objective. When we lose opportunity, all is not lost. Another tide is on its way. It must arrive. Just get ready to catch it! Opportunities are like tides, they will come again to give us a second chance. God is a God of second chances. Opportunity can be ours the second time, round.
Let us consider some important Points:
1. Opportunity comes more than once, if we are Patient:
- Just as the tide comes and goes, so does opportunities.
- When you miss an opportunity just try to be patient.
2. Create an Atmosphere of Expectation:
- When the opportunity first came, there was an atmosphere.
- Create that same atmosphere.
- Become mentally prepared during this time of waiting.
- You don’t want to miss this opportunity again.
- Do not allow yourself to be distracted.
3. Opportunities come more than once:
- Opportunities always surround us.
- There is no lack of opportunities.
- There is only the inability to see them.
- Sometimes one disappointment can cause you to miss a lot of opportunities, never give up.
- Who are the Inventors? People who see opportunities whilst others see nothing.
- Inventors fail many times.
- The key is never to stop!
4. Opportunities come more than once:
- If you miss it, another will come.
- Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
- As long as you are alive, you are full of possibilities.
5. Keep on knocking on its doors:
- Don’t let failure stop you.
- Don’t let tragedies stop you.
- Don’t let people stop you.
- The world is full of opportunities behind closed doors.
- So start knocking!
6. Opportunities come more than once, if we are willing to try other avenues to reach our goals:
- Perhaps you missed the first tide.
- There is another.
- Just be patient.
- When one door closes, another will open.
- Sit down, analyze, plan –and then move forward.
- What’s your strategy when opportunity escapes you?
- Remember, there will be another chance if you are patient.
- Just keep looking and keep yourself in a posture of expectancy.
Look, knock, be willing to not give up to reach the same point.
May God continue to richly bless you and your family. We pray for you daily and take pleasure in seeing you enjoy God’s blessings.
We Love you very much, Dr.Roshan and Pastor Zubeda Sing.
