Knowing the difference between Conversion and Discipleship

The partnership letter for August 2008

Greetings to you beloved of Christ. This month I would like to share with you about, “Knowing the difference between Conversion and Discipleship.”

I can walk with Jesus everyday…

It is one thing to come to the act of receiving Christ as your personal Saviour. It is entirely another to become a disciple or follower of Jesus Christ.

Your conversion and your becoming a disciple are two different things. Your conversion is what Christ does for you. Your becoming a disciple is what you do for Christ in the days or years of the rest of your life.

How does one become a disciple?

Becoming a disciple is not one single act; it is something you do as a way of life the rest of your life. Jesus explains it: *“And he said to [them] all, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” Luke 9:23.*

The key word here is daily. It is not just one cut. It is a daily continuous action of becoming more than what you have been doing. It is going from your start as a baby, born into the Kingdom of God and growing up into an adult in Christian maturity in which the Living Christ is being daily formed in you. (Galatians 4:19).

Here are some keys that will help you:

  1. It means to take on Jesus’ own life and lifestyle.
  2. Everyday, you must give God your best.
  3. Choose giving and sowing as a way of life and taking up your cross daily.
  4. When you give of yourself, it includes your time, your talents, your resources and your finances.

So as you give this month, don’t do it as a debt owed, but as a seed sown. This will bring you a harvest that would come back to you. As I conclude, let me give you an easy formula for discipleship:

F – Follow Christ daily.

O – Obey Jesus’ Word.

L – Love Him.

L – Lean on Him.

O – Open up and start giving.

W – Walk daily with Him.

As you sow your tithes, your offerings and pledges this month, I declare God’s Favour on your life. I bless you in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

Pastor Zubeda and I pray for you daily. We love you very much and thank God for you. May God continue to richly Bless you and your family.

With Love...Pastors Roshan and Zubeda Sing.

    A Wholesome Tongue

“The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.” Proverbs 10:31
