Face your Goliath
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 3 min read

“Then his brothers went and fell down before him [in confession]; then they said, “Behold, we are your servants (slaves).” But Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? [Vengeance is His, not mine.] As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present outcome, that many people would be kept alive [as they are this day]. So now, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and support you and your little ones.” So he comforted them [giving them encouragement and hope] and spoke [with kindness] to their hearts”
David faced Goliath. David knew he was in covenant with a living God so when he faced Goliath he was confident that he would defeat him. He defeated him.
Joseph, was a beloved son who was hated by his brothers. They threw him in the pit, sold him to Pothipher’s house and he was sent to prison. He was then presented before Pharoah where he was promoted to the second most important man in the land. Promotion did not come over night. He had a journey he had to go through, Pit, Pothipher, Prison and only then Pharoah. His Goliath came in the form of his brothers. He could have hated them and when he was in a postion to take vengeance, he chose to forgive. He could have taken a sling shot of hatred and put them into prison for what they had done to him. Joseph knew his God, just like David knew his God. Joseph knew the workings of God so he fully understood, it was not really his brothers who had sent him ahead. God had a purpose and plan for his life.
The sling shot for his Goliath was love and forgiveness. He knew what his brother’s meant for evil, God planned for good, not only for him, but for the people of Israel.
Face the Goliath’s in your life. They may bad mouth you, slander you, criticize you or even try to harm you. You have a choice, retaliate or respond. Retaliate, brings out the worst emotions and the most negative thoughts. None of this adds value to you or them. It’s a slingshot that comes from the carnal man and only numbs the Goliath for a while. When you respond, you are tapping into your love walk and every fruit of the spirit. The impact is devasting to the enemy as it stops them in their tracks. They are dumbfounded by your response and back off. So, face your Goliath but allow the Holy Spirit to give you the strategy.
You can do this.
