Timing, Patience and the Creation of Wealth
The partnership letter for September 2016
Greetings to my precious partners in Christ. This month I would like to share with you on the subject of: Timing, Patience and the Creation of Wealth.
“Prepare your outside work, make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterward build your house.”
Proverbs 24:27 instructs you to prepare the ground, plant the seed and get ready for the harvest before building your house. If you spend all your energy and money building your house without looking after the farm first, then you’ll have no harvest in the summer to pay for the house.
This is about patience. It’s about getting an income established and getting what you need before you start pursuing the things you want. At Christian City Church, we plant many other churches. One of the basics for young pastors starting a church is to first get the church going, then buy a house. If a young pastor commits himself to a mortgage before the church has really got going, he will find himself under unnecessary pressure to raise money, not just for the church, but also to pay off his house. This confuses his motivation and inhibits church growth.
I’ve seen people with great ideas leave their job to devote all their time and savings on getting their ideas up and running. However, there are very few people who can achieve this. We should arrange our world to meet our needs, rather than trying to fulfill our dreams. Once we have the basics covered, we can fully devote ourselves to developing our dreams.
People are far wiser when they keep a steady income and “moonlight” their idea. No matter how great the idea is, it will always take time before it generates income. People need to eat and sleep somewhere while their ideas get off the ground. They can work at night and on weekends, every spare moment, getting the project going. They don’t have to watch TV, read magazines, eat out at restaurants, etc.
The launching of any great project involves wise timing, sacrifice in the early days of the birthing, patience.
We Love You very Much, Dr. Roshan and Pastor Zubeda Sing.
