Benefits and Blessings
The partnership letter for November 2009
Greetings to all my partners in Christ Jesus. In this month’s issue I would like to share with you about ‘*Benefits and Blessings’. I would like to share a beautiful scripture with you that is found in the Book of Psalm 34: 11-14, “11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me 12 What man [is he that] desireth life, [and] loveth [many] days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”*
Firstly, the fear of the Lord must be taught. If we are not willing to receive counsel and correction, then we cannot receive the fear of the Lord. Secondly, the Psalmist said that the first area of our lives in which the fear of the Lord will be manifested in our tongues, which is the words that we speak.
A person who does not control his tongue is not walking in the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord manifests itself in words that are chosen carefully. The third feature in this passage is that the fear of the Lord leaves no room for compromise with evil. We are told to depart from evil and do good.
Now let us look at a beautiful picture of the man who fears the Lord and receives many blessings as a result; “A song of ascents. Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways. 2 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table. 4 Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD” Psalm 128:1-4 (NIV) What all inclusive blessings. Blessings for the man, for his work, for his home, for his wife, and for his children. “Blessings and Prosperity will be yours” All these are promised to the man who fears the Lord and walks in His ways.
