With His Own Blood

Dr RJ Sing · 1 min read

“But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us].”
Hebrews 9:11-12

As the messenger of the New Covenant, Jesus laid out the terms, conditions and promises of the Covenant. As High Priest of the New Covenant, He interceded for all those throughout the ages who would believe and enter into the Covenant with Him.

Then He offered Himself as the one perfect sacrifice necessary to make the New Covenant effective and legally binding. Jesus went to the Mount of Olives where He gave Himself over to the Roman soldiers. The Son of God… the Lamb slain from the foundation of the Earth… was led as a lamb to the slaughter. (Isaiah 53:7)

Through one sacrifice all the sin of mankind was forever erased. After Jesus offered Himself no further sacrifice is needed. The work was done. (See Hebrews 10:12:14) Jesus offered Himself as a blood sacrifice so that we would enter into a blood-Covenant relationship with Him. His blood, His life, His Spirit now flows through us! It is through a continual partaking of His flesh, His blood and His life that we have life and life in abundance.
