Jesus Is Alive: The Sunday School Easter Performance

About this recording

The Sunday school's Easter performance, brought up in front of the whole church and running a little under a quarter of an hour. There is no preaching in it. It is the children of Faith in the Word singing that Jesus is alive, and it is kept here for exactly that reason.

They open with an action song on the resurrection, the kind written to be clapped, hopped, twisted and stomped through, with the room freezing on a count of three between each verse. Then a song about going deep: deep in faith, deep in trust, deep in the word, deep in His ways. Then one for the children who are facing something, about giants falling, arrows that cannot land, and soldiering on through a battle already won. And they close on the Lion of Judah, the Messiah in flesh and bone, the only One worthy to open the scroll, who suffered as a lamb and rose as the lion, with the valleys raised and the mountains made low to prepare the way of the Lord.

For the parents and grandparents in this archive, this is the one to come back to. The children's ministry carries between forty five and sixty five children on an ordinary Sunday, and performances like this one take weeks of practice with up to seventy of them on their feet at once.
