Faith Chronicles

A month of daily readings, written by Dr RJ Sing for his church every month from 2007 until his passing in 2024. Pastor Zubeda Sing wrote alongside him, and she continues them today. Each reading has its scripture, the teaching, a confession and the day's Bible reading plan.

In 2021 and 2022 he also wrote daily messages for believers in business and at work — the Marketplace, kept with the rest of his writing on his own site.

The Spirit’s Clear Mandate to Apostle Paul

Pastor Zubeda Sing

“But when God, who had chosen me and set me apart before I was born, and called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles [as the good news—the way of salvation], I did not immediately consult with anyone [for guidance regarding God’s call and His revelation to me]. Nor did I [even] go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia and stayed awhile, and afterward returned once more to Damascus” Gal 1 v15-17

    Honour your Commitment

“Keep the charge of the LORD your God, [that is, fulfill your obligation to] walk in His ways, keep His statutes, His commandments, His precepts, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, so that you may succeed in everything that you do and wherever you turn, so that the LORD may fulfill His promise concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons are careful regarding their way [of life], to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and mind and with all their soul, you shall not fail to have a man (descendant) on the throne of Israel.’” 1 Kings 2v3-4

God is a man of his promise. He promised David that he would always have a descendent who would be king and surely it was kept even until Jesus, Jesus came from the line …

    The Benefits of Purpose

“Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. And he said unto them, take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere.” Luke 9v1

The benefits of salvation, which Jesus gave are as follows:

    Faith and Purpose

“Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith.” Romans 4v13

Abraham was the father of Faith. God moved on his behalf because of his faith. He made promises to Abraham because of his faith and his faithfulness to God. Abraham never…

    Purpose Driven

“As we were staying there for some time, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. And coming to [see] us, he took Paul’s [wide] band (belt, sash) and bound his own feet and hands, and said, “This is what the Holy Spirit says: ‘In this same way the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this band, and they will hand him over to the Gentiles (pagans).’” Now when we had heard this, both we and the local residents began pleading with Paul trying to persuade him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul replied, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart [like this]? For I am ready not only to be bound and imprisoned, but even to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” And since he would not be dissuaded, we stopped pleading and fell silent, saying, “The Lord’s will be done!”” Acts 21v10

The prophet Agabus was clear in his prophecy to Paul, telling him exactly what he would suffer if he persisted in going to Jerusalem. He was very graphic in his explanati…

    Decision to Be Silent

“But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2v19

Mary the mother of Jesus marvelled as she watched Jesus and the mighty works done by him. She kept all of these wonderful thoughts in her heart as she decided to keep sil…

    A Decision to Step Up

“And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about a hundred and twenty,) Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus. For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.” Acts 1v15-18

Jesus had ascended into heaven. The shepherd had left and the disciples were at a loss. It seemed as if there was no leader to lead them. It was at this time that Peter b…

    Wealth Vs Eternal Life

“As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He noticed two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And He said to them, "Follow Me [as My disciples, accepting Me as your Master and Teacher and walking the same path of life that I walk], and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed Him [becoming His disciples, believing and trusting in Him and following His example].” Matthew 4v18-20

Peter was a successful man, who had a prosperous business. He was well known as a fisherman. How do I know? Remember when he spoke, how he astounded those listening to hi…

    Being a Blessing

“On one occasion, Jesus was preaching to a crowd on the shore of Lake Galilee. A vast multitude of people was pushing to get close to Jesus to hear the word of God. He noticed two fishing boats at the water’s edge, with the fishermen nearby, rinsing their nets. Jesus climbed into the boat belonging to Simon Peter and said to him, “Let me use your boat. Push it off a short distance away from the shore so I can speak to the crowd.”” Luke 5v1-3

Peter was one of the disciples that Jesus relied on. He made many demands on him. Peter always complied. He gave whatever was asked of him. In this instance there was a c…

Be It Unto Me According to Thy Word

“For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” Luke 1v37

What an amazing young woman. She was a young virgin girl, who was engaged to be married to Joseph. Mary was so unassuming but she loved God. One can see from her response…

    Your Giving Speaks for you

“Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and alms deeds which she did. And it came to pass in those days, that she fell sick, and died: and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper chamber. And as Lydda was nigh unto Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men unto him, entreating him, Delay not to come on unto us. And Peter arose and went with them. And when he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning to the body, he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and when she saw Peter, she sat up. And he gave her his hand, and raised her up; and calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive.” Acts 9v36

Wow! Her giving and good deeds were remembered at the time of her death. The brethren were so distraught at her loss that they called for Peter. Telling him what a great …

    Faith Based Giving

“But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him. By faith [with confidence in God and His word] Noah, being warned by God about events not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his family. By this [act of obedience] he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness which comes by faith.” Hebrews 11v6-7

We give in faith, we receive by faith. Faith is our method of operation in the kingdom of God. without faith it is impossible to please God. So in our giving, we also ope…

    Having a Clean Heart

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51v10
