Faith Chronicles

A month of daily readings, written by Dr RJ Sing for his church every month from 2007 until his passing in 2024. Pastor Zubeda Sing wrote alongside him, and she continues them today. Each reading has its scripture, the teaching, a confession and the day's Bible reading plan.

In 2021 and 2022 he also wrote daily messages for believers in business and at work — the Marketplace, kept with the rest of his writing on his own site.

The Spirit’s Clear Mandate to Apostle Paul

Pastor Zubeda Sing

“But when God, who had chosen me and set me apart before I was born, and called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles [as the good news—the way of salvation], I did not immediately consult with anyone [for guidance regarding God’s call and His revelation to me]. Nor did I [even] go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia and stayed awhile, and afterward returned once more to Damascus” Gal 1 v15-17

    A Sin Free Tongue

“I said, “I will guard my ways That I may not sin with my tongue; I will muzzle my mouth While the wicked are in my presence.” Psalm 39v1

What is the most difficult thing to do. For each of us it is different, for me it is to keep quiet when someone is saying something out of hand. I just want to get in the…

    Justice and Truth

“The mouth of the righteous proclaims wisdom, And his tongue speaks justice and truth.” Psalm 37v30

What a privilege to have Jesus as our wisdom. What an honour for the Holy Spirit to train our tongue to speak justice and truth. We may have been people given to tell whi…

    The Praising Tongue

“And my tongue shall declare Your righteousness (justice), And Your praise all the day long.” Psalm 35v28

What a gift of God, a tongue of praise. When the Holy Spirit takes over our tongue, we become worshippers of God. Our hearts become filled with praise and thanksgiving an…

    Avoiding the Mission

“Then Moses said to the LORD, “Please, Lord, I am not a man of words (eloquent, fluent), neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and tongue.” Exodus 4v10

Moses was given a mandate to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt and into the promised land. God called him because he was the man for the job. He was born to do thi…

    A Tamed Tongue

“But no one can tame the human tongue; it is a restless evil [undisciplined, unstable], full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God. Out of the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. These things, my brothers, should not be this way [for we have a moral obligation to speak in a manner that reflects our fear of God and profound respect for His precepts].” James 3v8-10

What a statement. No one can tame a human tongue. A wild animal can be tamed, a large elephant can be tamed, yet a human tongue cannot be tamed. What an indictment. A sca…

Set your Course with your Tongue

“And the tongue is [in a sense] a fire, the very world of injustice and unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our members as that which contaminates the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life [the cycle of man’s existence], and is itself set on fire by hell (Gehenna). For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race. But no one can tame the human tongue; it is a restless evil [undisciplined, unstable], full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God.” James 3v6-12

James, the brother of Jesus, just has a way with words. He says it so clearly that the tongue is a sense of fire, used incorrectly it can contaminate the entire body and …

    Control the Tongue

“If anyone thinks himself to be religious [scrupulously observant of the rituals of his faith], and does not control his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person’s religion is worthless (futile, barren)” James 1v26

Our religion is worthless if we never take control of our tongue. If we just speak whatever we want to and speak rudely to people, how will we influence them. We have to …

    Encourage Yourself in the Lord

“Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God” 1 Sam 30v6

The group of men who formed the army of David had now turned against him as their tent had been broken into and their wives and children taken, whilst they were out fight…

Our thoughts keep us anchored in the Lord our God. Our thoughts that are stayed on God keep us in perfect peace. Our thoughts will cause us to trust in the Lord implicitl…

Let This Mind Be in you

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God” Phil 2v5

We exhort you to think the same thing, to have the same love, to be in heart agreement, to consider one another. Thinking of others more than yourself
