A Sin Free Tongue

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“I said, “I will guard my ways That I may not sin with my tongue; I will muzzle my mouth While the wicked are in my presence.”
Psalm 39v1

What is the most difficult thing to do. For each of us it is different, for me it is to keep quiet when someone is saying something out of hand. I just want to get in there and silence them. I am not given to violence but sometimes our cutting words are more dangerous than being physically violent. The psalmist here is saying that he will guard his ways and keep silent even when his enemies are in his presence. He will muzzle his mouth. Do you realise how hard that is, that may be his intent but to physically do that takes immense power and self discipline. The point is he or she can do that for a while but will never be in a position to maintain that stance of muzzling their mount in their own strength. We all need the Holy Spirit. Even Jesus was filled with the holy Spirit. He was the son of God and also the son of man and he came to show us how to live this life. Yet even he needed the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

If you want change, permanent change, you will have to welcome the Holy Spirit in to your life. Peter was called by Jesus to be the first apostle yet even though Jesus was present with him physically, he could never discipline himself. Remember he cut off the ear of the man in the garden of Getsemani. Jesus had to put back the man’s ear. Yet once he was filled with the Holy Spirit, in one meeting 3000 souls were saved. What changed Peter? The power of the Holy Spirit. We too need this power to teach us how to speak and train our tongues so we can change our world. Give the Holy spirit a chance and your tongue will be the key to your walk of victory and good success.
