Precious Silver

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“The tongue of the righteous is like precious silver (greatly valued); The heart of the wicked is worth little”
Prov 10v20

Silver is a precious metal that is only seen as beautiful after it has been refined by the refiner. It can be shaped into anything the refiner and craftsman want it to be. We only see the finished product and do not realise the work that goes into making a beautiful silver ring. In the above scripture the tongue of the righteous is said to be like precious silver and greatly valued. Our tongue and our speech can only be gracious and kind after the refiner (The holy Spirit) has worked on our tongue, through our prayer life and our feeding on the word of God. When we pray and give thanks, there is a shaping and making that takes place which makes our tongue like precious silver. This does not happen over night. We also have to yield to the process. There will be words of correction the Holy Spirit will use so that your gracious, kind and effective speech is in operation in your work life, your family life and in your church life.

When you think of precious silver, you think of words like, words fitly spoken is like silver set among gold. The holy Spirit helps us as we listen to the word of God and practice the presence of God, whilst listening and practicing the presence of God. The tongue is shaped and remoulded into the language of the word of God and our prayers are answered in a shorter space of time. The word of God trains the tongue and we become more aware of what we will say before we say them.

The Thriver has a tongue that is forged in fire, hence they are able to speak graciously and their sweet lips increase learning.
