My Tongue, My Pen

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 3 min read

“My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.”
Psalm 45v1

What a beautiful psalm. This psalm reminds us that our tongue is the like a painting brush in our lives and our hearts are the canvass. The words we speak builds the pictures of the things we want to see in our lives. Unfortunately, we have so much negativity and anger and so many issues that the brush strokes are normally dark and unsightly. What we see today is a result of what we spoke yesterday. Our words shaped our world, whether good or bad. What we have in our hearts is what we speak. We need to start filling our eyes and our hearts with the goodness of God. We need an infilling of the presence of God on a daily basis to change our vision and the pictures in our hearts. We need to let the Holy Spirit to come in and soften our hearts. We need the word to penetrate our hearts and mind so that it can chip away the dross and bad things in our lives. None of us are perfect. Everyone of us has issues. Some are so blatant that people can immediately see, others have them hidden so everyone thinks they have no issues. Anger, bitterness, strife are all things that fill our hearts. All you have to do is listen to a conversation to know where the person is at. So many broken people and damaged mindsets. It takes the power of God to change all of this. It takes the anointing to destroy every yoke and lift every burden. Jesus says in matthew 11v28, come unto me all you that labour and are heavy laden and I shall give you rest. Take my yoke upon you because my yoke is easy and my burden is light. God gives us a promise at every crossroad of our lives. There are sign posts along our journey. God is waiting for us to notice and take heed so we can be relieved of the burdens we should never have been carrying. Give God a chance, let his word penetrate your heart so the word can go and accomplish that which it was sent to do. We can talk and talk and talk till the cows come home and we will accomplish nothing. We can try to change people and get very frustrated because we will never change them. God sent us the Holy Spirit because he is the fixer, the comfort, the standby and the present help in times of trouble. He will take your tongue and begin to teach you how to pray and begin to declare war on your old nature to bring about the new nature in you. I am in the process of change and learning each and every day. It’s been 46 years of walking with the Lord, yet each day there is something new that I learn.

I read my bible daily, yet I said to the Lord the other day, Father how come I never read this like this before. The eyes of my understanding are being opened day by day. I am learning more and more of Jesus and becoming more and more like him. My tongue is indeed the pen of a ready writer. I will see good success and victory in my life, so will you. Give God a chance. Let him change your confession. Pray and you will see change in your family and those around you.
