Faith Chronicles

A month of daily readings, written by Dr RJ Sing for his church every month from 2007 until his passing in 2024. Pastor Zubeda Sing wrote alongside him, and she continues them today. Each reading has its scripture, the teaching, a confession and the day's Bible reading plan.

In 2021 and 2022 he also wrote daily messages for believers in business and at work — the Marketplace, kept with the rest of his writing on his own site.

A Fruitful Tree

Pastor Zubeda Sing

“For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters, That spreads out its roots by the river; And will not fear the heat when it comes; But its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit” Jeremiah 17v8

The Giving Spirit of the Thriver

“And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus, having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.” Acts 4v36-37

Barnabas is a marvel to me. There are so many attributes in his life that speaks of being a generous and successful man. He was never self absorbed or wanting to promote …

    The Hospitality of a Thriver

“Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.” Acts 16v14-15

Lydia was quite successful in her own right. She had many good relationships around her so she was quite established in her social circle as well. She was hungry for more…

    The Thriver in Warfare

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled” 2 Cor 10v4-6

Our warfare is not “against flesh and blood” (Eph. 6:12); therefore, carnal (weak, worldly) weapons will not do. We need weapons that are God-empowered (mighty in God). T…

The Thriver is Enviable to the Enemy (isaac and the Wells)

“The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him. Now the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, and they had filled them with earth. And Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.”” Gen. 26v13-16

The Philistines envied Isaac. Isaac did not even go out of his way to offend them. He was already thriving, living in the blessing of his father Abraham. Abraham had dug …

    The Understanding of a Thriver

“Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you” Proverbs 4v7-9

The Hebrew word for understanding is “Binah” – it means a deeper or more profound understanding or discernment, practical intelligence, insight, wisdom and so much more.

    The Wisdom of a Thriver

“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the LORD.”” 1 Cor 1v30-31

Jesus is our wisdom. We who are born again have been cleansed from all sin and justified, just as if we have never sinned. We have a new nature now, old things have passe…

The Anointing on the Life of a Thriver

“As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.” 1 John 2v27

The anointing is an empowerment to do things that you would not normally be able to do in your own natural strength. It is an enablement that comes on you by the spirit o…

    The Relationships of a Thriver

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22v37-39

A thriver is known for being a good relationship person. The emotional maturity a thriver has makes him/her very perceptive of people. A thriver is able to see the good i…

The Financial Overflow of the Thriver

“Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions” Luke 12v15

But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that …

    The Health of a Thriver

“For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill. Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow” Phil 2v26-27

As one can see, even in the midst of serving and leading God’s people, the possibility of sickness and disease is always present, however this does not stop one from serv…

    The Expectations of a Thriver

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” Matthew 14v28

Peter had the kind of faith that thrilled the Father. He was not afraid, he had raw, undiluted faith. He saw Jesus and the fact that he was walking on water did not bothe…
