The Thriver is Enviable to the Enemy (isaac and the Wells)
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; for he had possessions of flocks and possessions of herds and a great number of servants. So the Philistines envied him. Now the Philistines had stopped up all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, and they had filled them with earth. And Abimelech said to Isaac, “Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we.””
The Philistines envied Isaac. Isaac did not even go out of his way to offend them. He was already thriving, living in the blessing of his father Abraham. Abraham had dug wells in his life time and now Isaac had his servants dig up the wells the Philistines had filled with sand. Isaac was living his best life in the blessing his father had left him. He was not at all challenged by the Philistines but he was a bother to them. They had put up with Abraham because they knew they could not beat him because of his God, now here comes Isaac and his thrive, was a mirror image of his father’s victory. Isaac was not a man given to war really, but trouble came looking for him. God protected him. God gave him the wells and no matter what the enemy tried, he still prospered. He was still thriving although he was a great annoyance to his enemies. The king had to recognize that Isaac was mightier than them, so he asked Isaac to go away from them.
The same benefits are ours in Christ. We are thrivers. Our God has made preparations for us before the foundations of the earth. When we received Jesus as our Lord and saviour, we become partakers of the finished works of Christ. The wells of sickness and disease may rise up, but the word of healing flows greater than the sound of the enemy’s negative report. The wells of insufficiency have been stopped and now we live in the flow of financial overflow. When the world wants to tell us to go away, just know they recognize that you are mightier than them. Thrive in the midst of the envy of the enemy.
