The Hospitality of a Thriver

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. And when she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.”
Acts 16v14-15

Lydia was quite successful in her own right. She had many good relationships around her so she was quite established in her social circle as well. She was hungry for more and listening to the word of God through the preaching of God’s word through Paul just filled her hunger. She was a go getter who was keen to grow in the things of God as well. Her success in her business was only one aspect, and as she tasted of the goodness of God, she wanted more. She was generous and very hospitable. She reached out to the apostles wanting to be a blessing to them. In her success, she was ready to thrive, even though that was not her intention at all. Her natural talent reached out to the super natural ability of God. She knew by being a blessing to the anointed men of God, she would enhance her own life. It’s a secret she tapped into. She instantly became a giver and a partaker of the kingdom of God.

I have yet to meet a giver who is not a thriver. The ability to thrive is a by product of a giver’s life. A giver is also very hospitable as there is no fear of lack. They have tasted success and they know in their knower, God will never fail them. They have tasted and seen that God is good and he will never leave them no forsake them. There is a God confidence in their hearts that breathes hospitality to others. A thriver is always generous.
