Merry Christmas

“Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
St. Nicholas should be an inspiration to us all. He was a godly man whose reputation for giving to people caused him to be a great example of what compassion and giving are all about. So much of what Nicholas was and what Santa Claus has become has been distorted. What has been done to weaken and contort the testimony of this godly man is wrong. Born in Turkey in 280 A.D, He was raised by Christian parents who diligently taught him devotion to God and to be very generous to the poor. At nineteen, Nicholas was ordained a priest. His uncle, a bishop, prophesied that Nicholas would offer guidance and consolation to many people, and that he would eventually become a bishop. Many accounts have been written about his dedicated life. He would spend all night studying the Bible to bring it to the people. He was known for helping the poor, praying, fasting and standing steadily in faith and goodness.
The greatest gift of all is the gift of Jesus to us from God the Father. Jesus is our hope, redemption and victory. He will never leave us. In Him we have the joy of living a heavenly life on earth. He is the true meaning of Christmas. He is the one St. Nicholas served. He is our triumphant Saviour, Jesus the Christ, the Lord of lords and King of kings! Now, that’s a merry Christmas!
