The Health of a Thriver

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“For he longs for all of you and is distressed because you heard he was ill. Indeed he was ill, and almost died. But God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, to spare me sorrow upon sorrow”
Phil 2v26-27

As one can see, even in the midst of serving and leading God’s people, the possibility of sickness and disease is always present, however this does not stop one from serving successfully and thriving in your calling.

Epaphroditus, my brother, co-worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger, whom you sent to take care of my needs. This is how Paul describes Epaphroditus. He was working in the ministry with Paul and winning many people to Christ. In the midst of Ministry, he got ill but this did not stop him. He continued to serve and be of assistance to Paul. In his obedience and service, health and healing had no option but be his portion. He thrived even in the illness that tried to take his life. God had mercy on him, the mercy of healing brough him back to his portion in this life. The sickness did not stop him from thriving in his calling. He kept his eyes on Jesus and what it was that he was called to do and he prospered in the calling.

Family of God, in the midst of our serving we will face challenges of sickness, lack or even insufficiency, but we must never stop there. We keep moving forward, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our Faith. The season of illness or disease is temporary and an attack on our faith. We press on to the mark of the high calling and soon, our health will be restored to the full. Thrive in the midst of the midst of the challenge, you will overcome.
