Encouraging Others

“For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours”
Paul faced hardship, he faced tribulation, he faced rejection from the household of God and from the non-believing Jews. Yet, Paul focused on his calling and the needs of the church. He was called to build and encourage the people of God. He never let the distractions of the day, nor the attitudes of the people who he came in contact with, ever stop him from his mission and call. He knew he had to encourage believers to keep on keeping on. He warned of the temptations that would face the household of God and encouraged them to go forward no matter what.
Family of God, we too will face temptations and challenges. The bible says, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God delivers them from them all. We will not go through this life, free from temptations and trials, so let us make up our minds, no matter what, we will serve the Lord. We will keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith.
Please take the time to encourage yourself and then encourage others. In your distress, do not consider the pain but reach out and encourage others. Sounds crazy right. It will surprise you that as you encourage others, there is a strength that comes from within you that, then encourages you and your problems seem to be distant and not as important as you thought. The joy of encouraging others, encourages you and makes you strong enough to handle the problems that seemed impossible to you. You can do this! You are an encourager!
