The Blessing of Perseverance

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God”
PHILIPPIANS 1:27–28

There has rarely been a time in the last 2,000 years when Christians haven’t been ridiculed and criticized in some way by people.

As in the life of Paul, his most important goal in life was for the gospel to be proclaimed throughout the world. It didn’t matter to him if the motives of the people sharing that message were for envy, or rivalry, or even for love and goodwill. It also didn’t matter if he was the one delivering the message—he would continue to rejoice in spite of any hardships or setbacks because he knew God was always in control. Paul builds on this encouragement to the Philippian believers by making an appeal for them to live with a steadfast unity, for he knows that this will serve to achieve this same purpose of attracting others to the gospel of Christ.

We will face many hardships and criticism however we need to stand strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. We need to stand strong against the winds of adversity and allow the Holy Spirit to develop our love walk, without love we are nothing. Love is the strongest muscle to use when standing against the winds of adversity and criticism. All the Holy Spirit to teach you how to respond when you are faced with challenges. The blessing of the Lord rests on you. You will overcome and every circumstance will be chanelled to work for your good.
