Faith Chronicles

A month of daily readings, written by Dr RJ Sing for his church every month from 2007 until his passing in 2024. Pastor Zubeda Sing wrote alongside him, and she continues them today. Each reading has its scripture, the teaching, a confession and the day's Bible reading plan.

In 2021 and 2022 he also wrote daily messages for believers in business and at work — the Marketplace, kept with the rest of his writing on his own site.

The Spirit’s Clear Mandate to Apostle Paul

Pastor Zubeda Sing

“But when God, who had chosen me and set me apart before I was born, and called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles [as the good news—the way of salvation], I did not immediately consult with anyone [for guidance regarding God’s call and His revelation to me]. Nor did I [even] go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia and stayed awhile, and afterward returned once more to Damascus” Gal 1 v15-17

Thankful for the Power to Overcome

“For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].” 1 John 5v4

Yes, we are overcomers in this life. We face challenges and difficulties but we overcome them by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. We are victors in th…

    Honour God with your Trust

“Trust in and rely confidently on the LORD with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.” Proverbs 3v5

It is not always easy to trust. We have been disappointed so many times or betrayed so many times that we begin to compare God with people and think that He too will let …

    God Honours His Word

“In hope against hope Abraham believed that he would become a father of many nations, as he had been promised [by God]: “SO [numberless] SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE.” Without becoming weak in faith he considered his own body, now as good as dead [for producing children] since he was about a hundred years old, and [he considered] the deadness of Sarah’s womb. But he did not doubt or waver in unbelief concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and empowered by faith, giving glory to God, being fully convinced that God had the power to do what He had promised.” Romans 4v18

Abraham was so convinced that God would keep his promised that he hoped against hope. When everyone around him tried to dilute his faith that God would not come through, …

    Honour your Commitment

“Keep the charge of the LORD your God, [that is, fulfill your obligation to] walk in His ways, keep His statutes, His commandments, His precepts, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, so that you may succeed in everything that you do and wherever you turn, so that the LORD may fulfill His promise concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons are careful regarding their way [of life], to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and mind and with all their soul, you shall not fail to have a man (descendant) on the throne of Israel.’” 1 Kings 2v3-4

God is a man of his promise. He promised David that he would always have a descendent who would be king and surely it was kept even until Jesus, Jesus came from the line …

Allowing My Purpose to Shape My Life

“From there Isaac moved to Beersheba, where the LORD appeared to him on the night of his arrival. “I am the God of your father, Abraham,” he said. “Do not be afraid, for I am with you and will bless you. I will multiply your descendants, and they will become a great nation. I will do this because of my promise to Abraham, my servant.” Then Isaac built an altar there and worshiped the LORD. He set up his camp at that place, and his servants dug another well.” Genesis 26v23

Isaac was minding his own business and in so doing, he needed a well from which him and his family would draw water. His father Abraham was well known and an influencer, …

My Purpose Opens the Right Doors

“Joseph’s suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his officials. So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are. You will be in charge of my court, and all my people will take orders from you. Only I, sitting on my throne, will have a rank higher than yours.”” Genesis 41v37

Joseph had to go to prison first. He had to meet the two people who served the king. He had to allow the gifting of dream interpretation to be revealed. This gift made ro…

    Refining Process for My Purpose

“They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!” Acts 16v23-26

Paul rebuked and cast out a lying demon out of a girl who was following them in his endeavour to minister to the people and lead them to Christ. He was fulfilling his pur…

    Power and Purpose

“And to him who has no might He increases power. Even youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, But those who wait for the LORD [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired.” Isaiah 40v29-31

God gives you power in your purpose to do the things he has called you to. It does not matter about your age or your financial status.

    Refuse to Worry

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” Philippians 4v6

What a privileged life we have, Jesus said we should not worry, God will provide for our every need. Paul in the book of Philippians tells us again, do not worry. Why do …

    Learning to Be Content

“I’m glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess—happy that you’re again showing such strong concern for me. Not that you ever quit praying and thinking about me. You just had no chance to show it. Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.” Philippians 4v10-14

What an amazing way of living, being content, no matter what circumstances you face. It is a skill we all need to develop. Every new day comes with a new need. If we allo…

Complain or Praise – your Decision

“But about midnight when Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; suddenly there was a great earthquake, so [powerful] that the very foundations of the prison were shaken and at once all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened. When the jailer, shaken out of sleep, saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, thinking that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, saying, “Do not hurt yourself, we are all here!” Then the jailer called for torches and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, and after he brought them out [of the inner prison], he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”” Acts 16v25

Paul and Silas were locked up in jail because they witnessed the way of Christ to people. Actually they were in a dungeon, locked in stocks. Instead of complaining and fe…

    Rebellious Decisions

“And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.” Numbers 20v12

Moses and Aaron were commanded by God to strike the rock once so water can come forth to allow the Israelites to quench their thirst. Aaron and Moses were so frustrated w…
