Refining Process for My Purpose

Pastor Wesley & Yajhna Sing · 2 min read

“They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks. Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!”
Acts 16v23-26

Paul rebuked and cast out a lying demon out of a girl who was following them in his endeavour to minister to the people and lead them to Christ. He was fulfilling his purpose being in that town. Lives were changed and people were turned to Christ. The girl was a means of income to her owners so when the spirit of divination was cast out of her, their means of income was terminated. This enraged them and they caused a riot where Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown in to jail. Even in Jail, their purpose could not be stopped. They prayed and sang unto the Lord. The Power of purpose caused an earthquake and the prison door sprang open. Through this incident the Jailer and his household were save. Purpose fulfilled.

Many things we do not understand, God has predestined us, planned our footsteps and even the people he plans for us to meet. The enemy loves to distract us from our purpose. So when the refining process begin in our lives, he tries his best to keep our eyes on the pain and not on the gain of lives that will be won to Christ. Paul was being refined and also tested by being imprisoned, but he was not perturbed or distracted. All he focused on was what God has called him to. In your everyday life, take time to look past the pain, to the things God has really called you to. No pain, no gain.
