Dedicated in My Purpose

Pastor Wesley & Yajhna Sing · 2 min read

“The king of Aram had great admiration for Naaman, the commander of his army, because through him the LORD had given Aram great victories. But though Naaman was a mighty warrior, he suffered from leprosy. At this time Aramean raiders had invaded the land of Israel, and among their captives was a young girl who had been given to Naaman’s wife as a maid. One day the girl said to her mistress, “I wish my master would go to see the prophet in Samaria. He would heal him of his leprosy.””
2 Kings 5v1-2

This young lady was a daughter of Israel who had been taken captive by the army of Aram and landed up in the house of Naaman, serving his wife as a maid. Captives were normally taken from noble households so that it was an insult to the kings who were defeated. This young lady could have been bitter as she had to serve as a slave in a foreign land. She was dedicated to her purpose. She saw beyond her pain to the need of Naaman who had leprosy. She knew a prophet who could heal Naaman. She decided to offer a way out for Naaman in the midst of her troubles. Amazing! At her age she could see that there was a purpose for her being in the house of Naaman.

I am not sure if I could have been so forgiving, yet when purpose calls, purpose drives you to go beyond your pain, to fulfill the call of God on your life. Your obedience to the call and purpose adds value to the kingdom and lives are changed. (please read this passage in the book of kings, Naaman is so in awe of our God that he follows the Lord God as his saviour). The young lady served her purpose even in her captivity.
