Faith Chronicles

A month of daily readings, written by Dr RJ Sing for his church every month from 2007 until his passing in 2024. Pastor Zubeda Sing wrote alongside him, and she continues them today. Each reading has its scripture, the teaching, a confession and the day's Bible reading plan.

In 2021 and 2022 he also wrote daily messages for believers in business and at work — the Marketplace, kept with the rest of his writing on his own site.

The Fruit of Love

Pastor Zubeda Sing

“But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law” Galatians 5v22-23

    Apologise

“David said to God, “Is it not I who commanded the people to be counted? I am the one who has sinned and done evil; but as for these sheep [the people of Israel], what have they done? O LORD my God, please let Your hand be against me and my father’s house, but not against Your people that they should be plagued.”” 1 Chron 21v17

David was a man after God’s own heart. He had a pliable heart that was willing to ask for forgiveness, willing to apologise no matter what a great king he was. He was so …

    Forgive

“Then Peter came to Him and asked, “Lord, how many times will my brother sin against me and I forgive him and let it go? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered him, “I say to you, not up to seven times, but seventy times seven” Matt 18v21-22

Forgiveness is a wonderful word but to actually put it in to practice, really takes some courage. Peter came to Jesus to ask him, how many times he has to forgive his bro…

    Practice Gratitude

“O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness endures forever” 1Chron 16v34

Oh the joy of thanksgiving. A grateful person is a free person. A grateful person is a person who is not self- obsessed or self-centred. That person does not worry about …

    Learn to Let Go

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” Phil 3v13-14

Paul was a mighty man of God, an apostle. Yet even this great man who had abundance of revelation, had to learn to let go. He understood that as long as he held onto the …

    How to Practice Grace

“START WITH YOURSELF To the saints and faithful believers in Christ [who are] at Colossae: Grace to you and peace [inner calm and spiritual well-being] from God our Father” Col 1v2

Paul understood the message of grace. He said to Timothy that he was a partaker of the grace on Paul’s life.

    Graceful Thanks Giving

“We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, as we pray always for you, for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus [how you lean on Him with absolute confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness], and of the [unselfish] love which you have for all the saints (God’s people)” Col 1v3

We need to cultivate the art of thanks giving in to our everyday life. When we constantly give thanks unto the Lord, there is a grace that comes on us that makes our live…

    Grace to Identify a Need

“Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour (3:00 p.m.), and a man who had been unable to walk from birth was being carried along, whom they used to set down every day at that gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, so that he could beg alms from those entering the temple. So when he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking [them] for coins” Acts 3v1-3

The man sitting at the gate beautiful was not looking for healing, he was placed there to beg. He was looking for coins. Peter who was filled with the anointing immediate…

    Grace Upon Grace

“For out of His fullness [the superabundance of His grace and truth] we have all received grace upon grace [spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing, favor upon favor, and gift heaped upon gift]” John 1v16

We have all received grace upon grace, double grace, favour and gift upon gift to do the work of the ministry. So, when grace came on us to fulfill the call on our lives,…

    Grace to Unlock Doors

“While they were serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul (Paul) for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying, they laid their hands on them [in approval and dedication] and sent them away [on their first journey]” Acts 13v2

The door for ministry was opened to the gentiles. The church now needed men who would go out and minister to the new believers and also win the gentiles to Christ. The do…

    Grace to Seize Opportunities

“Then Pharaoh sent and called for Joseph, and they hurriedly brought him out of the dungeon; and when Joseph shaved himself and changed his clothes [making himself presentable], he came to Pharaoh. Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it; and I have heard it said about you that you can understand a dream and interpret it.” Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not in me [to interpret the dream]; God [not I] will give Pharaoh a favorable answer [through me]” Genesis 41v14

Joseph was a dreamer and a dream interpreter. He was in jail for being falsely accused of rape. Joseph did not even consider this. When the call from Pharoah called, he w…

    Grace & Skill

“As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all kinds of literature and wisdom; Daniel also understood all kinds of visions and dreams” Dan. 1v17

The four Hebrew boys or should we say young men, were in the courts of Pharoah serving as officials. They refused to bow to the statue and were thrown into the fire. God …

    Grace for My Season

“But an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up and go south to the road that runs from Jerusalem down to Gaza.” (This is a desert road). So, he got up and went; and there was an Ethiopian eunuch [a man of great authority], a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship, and he was returning, and sitting in his chariot he was reading [the scroll of] the prophet Isaiah. Then the [Holy] Spirit said to Philip, “Go up and join this chariot.” Philip ran up and heard the man reading the prophet Isaiah, and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “Well, how could I [understand] unless someone guides me [correctly]?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him” Acts 8v26-31

Philip was not an Apostle, he was just one of the seven men chosen to serve at tables. He was full of the holy spirit and moved in the power of miracles. He was so obedie…
