Faith Chronicles

A month of daily readings, written by Dr RJ Sing for his church every month from 2007 until his passing in 2024. Pastor Zubeda Sing wrote alongside him, and she continues them today. Each reading has its scripture, the teaching, a confession and the day's Bible reading plan.

In 2021 and 2022 he also wrote daily messages for believers in business and at work — the Marketplace, kept with the rest of his writing on his own site.

A Fruitful Tree

Pastor Zubeda Sing

“For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters, That spreads out its roots by the river; And will not fear the heat when it comes; But its leaves will be green and moist. And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought Nor stop bearing fruit” Jeremiah 17v8

Principles for Giving No.14 (Part 2)

“On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple area and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. And as he taught them, he said, "Is it not written: “'My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations'? But you have made it 'a den of robbers.” Mark 11:15-17

The Temple was established by God to be a Holy place where people come to meet with Him, worship Him, offer their sacrifices and to learn the Scriptures. But corrupt men had turned the…

“A woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table” Matthew 26:7

We continue with our account of the anointing at Bethany. We stated that this woman gave what was most valuable to her as an act of worship. She did not give for selfish reasons.…

“A woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table” Matthew 26:7

This is most beautiful example in the entire Bible of how God expects us to give. Jesus was in the house of Simon the leper. A woman came to Him there with an alabaster…

Principles for Giving No.12 (Part 2)

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers? The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise.” Luke 10:36-37

We continue our discussion of this Parable. Here we see the Samaritan did not leave the man there in a helpless condition to fend for himself. He took responsibility for the man and his…

PRINCIPLE NO.12: Give freely and liberally to those who are in need. This is a Beautiful Portion of Scripture where Jesus answers the question as to, who is my neighbor? But to get a…

Principles for Giving No.11 (Part 2)

God wants you to broaden the scope of your giving beyond your family, friends, and co-workers. In addition to giving your tithes and offerings, He wants you to give and minister to the needs…

“But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” Luke 14:13-14

PRINCIPLE NO.11: GIVE FREELY AND LIBERALLY TO THE POOR, THE NEEDY AND TO YOUR ENEMIES, EXPECTING NOTHING IN RETURN. Jesus set a standard for our giving which far exceeds the world’s concept of giving.…

    Principles for Giving No.10 (Part2)

“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you” Matthew 6:3-4

Jesus teaches us not to give like the hypocrites who give to be seen and to receive praise and honor of men. Instead, our motive must be to glorify God. He tells us to…

    Principles for Giving No.10

“Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.” Matthew 6:1-2

PRINCIPLE NO.10: DON’T GIVE FOR MAN’S RECOGNITION, GIVE SECRETLY SO THAT GOD WILL REWARD YOU OPENLY. Our motives for giving to God must be right. In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus warns us…
