Principles for Giving No.9

Dr RJ Sing · 1 min read

“Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked. The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.”
Acts 10:4

PRINCIPLE NO.9: WHEN YOU GIVE ALMS TO THE POOR, YOU ARE GIVING TO GOD WHO WILL REWARD YOU Jesus taught that we are not to store up money or worldly riches as “treasures” here on earth. But rather we are to store up “treasures” in Heaven. Jesus gave us an important Key to storing up Treasures in Heaven. He told His disciples, “See that ye have and give alms…”

The Key is giving, giving to God and giving to the poor and needy as we give according to God’s plan, we provide ourselves with purses that never run out, an unfailing and inexhaustible treasure in Heaven! We have an inexhaustible source from which to draw! The word “alms” is translated from the Greek Word, “ELEEMOSNNE” which refers to “an act of mercy or pity”.

Particularly in giving of alms. “Alms” are acts of Mercy in which food, money, clothing, is given freely to relieve the poor. The Apostle Paul instructed Timothy to communicate to those who were rich in the world’s goods to give freely and generously to others.
