Principles for Giving No.10 (Part2)

Dr RJ Sing · 1 min read

“But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”
Matthew 6:3-4

Jesus teaches us not to give like the hypocrites who give to be seen and to receive praise and honor of men. Instead, our motive must be to glorify God. He tells us to give secretly, without drawing attention to ourselves. Most people give to God so that they may receive more to fulfill their carnal, selfish lusts.

God wants you to give freely to Him, in faith, expecting your needs to be met. However, the main motivational force behind all your giving must be your love for God. You must give to Him with a thankful heart, in worship and praise. Do not give to receive recognition or honor from man.

The pure motives for giving that God wants you to have are: 1) Your love for Him 2) To worship Him for who He is. 3) To thank and Praise Him for all He has done for you. 4) To glorify Him 5) To follow Him in giving as an act of obedience to His Word and 6) To fulfill His Will in this End Time Harvest.
