Faith Chronicles

A month of daily readings, written by Dr RJ Sing for his church every month from 2007 until his passing in 2024. Pastor Zubeda Sing wrote alongside him, and she continues them today. Each reading has its scripture, the teaching, a confession and the day's Bible reading plan.

In 2021 and 2022 he also wrote daily messages for believers in business and at work — the Marketplace, kept with the rest of his writing on his own site.

    God Is Holy

“And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory” Isaiah 6:3

In a vision, the Prophet of Isaiah saw God sitting on His throne. Around this throne were seraphs, each with six wings, and they called out to one another, “Holy, holy, holy is the…

    God Helps His Children

“If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help. O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee” 2Chronicles 20:9, 12

The Israelites had much practice in crying out for help to the God of the Covenant. When things went well, they strayed from God and worshipped pagan idols. But as soon as they found…

    Glory Be to God!

“O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen” Romans 11:33, 36

Romans 11:33-36 is a beautiful song of praise. This doxology praises God’s glory, wisdom and knowledge. With this description, the curtain is drawn back slightly so that we can get a glimpse of the…

    Our God Is Incomparable

“Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counselor hath taught him? To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?” Isaiah 40:13, 18

Isaiah’s beautiful song shows us exactly how powerful and incomparably great our Creator is. With this song, he wanted to convince Israel that God’s message of redemption is true, that nothing is too difficult…

God Is Not Bound by Time

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8

Peter warns believers that in the last day’s scoffers will come who will question the Second Coming of Christ (see 2 Pet 3:3, 4). Peter explains that God’s concept of time differs greatly from…

    God Is Great!

“Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where was thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding”.” Job 38:1, 3, 4

Job had dozens of questions that He wanted to ask God. Why did God allow him to suffer? Why was he born at all, if only misery awaited him in the world? Job did…

    God Performs Miracles

“O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation” Isaiah 25:1, 9

A woman whose husband had cancer, said that the doctor told her that her husband needed a miracle. The following day she read the above Scripture verse. “Then I just knew that the Lord…

    God’s Thoughts

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

There is often a vast difference between our expectations and how God arranges for things to turn out. God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts. His actions differ totally from ours. For this reason,…

    A God Who Hears

“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear”.” Isaiah 65:24

In Isaiah 65, God renews His commitment to His people. In the New Jerusalem that He is preparing for them there will be no sorrow and death. The people will be able to enjoy…

    A God Who Provides

“And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.” Gen 22:13-14

God gave Abraham an incomprehensible command to sacrifice his only son as a burnt offering (Gen 22:2). Abraham did what the Lord asked, although he must have found it very difficult and probably did…

    God Is Eternal

“I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations. Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed.” Psalm 102:24-26

The Psalmist of Psalm 102 is distraught and turns to the Lord for help. He pleads with God not to be aloof, but to hear his prayers. At the end of the Psalm, he…

    God Is Your Shepherd

“He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.” Isaiah 40:11

Many times we see pictures of Shepherds holding little lambs in their arms. As a Shepherd takes care of flock, so does God take care of His family. Many times in life, we feel…
