A Prompt Tongue

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”
1 Peter 3v14-15

A prompt tongue belongs to a man or woman who is filled with the Holy Spirit and power and know when and what to speak. The scripture says we have the tongue of the learned, we speak a word in season to the weary and the broken hearted. We are able to read a room, we can see when people are in pain or what the temperature of the room is. We select our words carefully so we create an atmosphere for the spirit of God to move. We are the opportunity God has sent to a person to change their lives in a moment so we have a responsibility to be prompt with our tongue. We who are sent have had our tongues trained (and will continually be trained) to speak a word in season. It’s never about us. The holy spirit wants us to be selfless and not be self-absorbed all the time. We have a responsibility to help build others with our words. Let the Holy Spirit teach you the language of the kingdom. This responsibility and learning is not only for adults but for children too. Teach young children from an early age that it is not cool to act out and to be rude to older people. Manners maketh a man. We adults will be held responsible for what we teach our younger generation. If we adults are acting out all the time, this is just a transference of behaviour in bulk, to our younger generation. Let our words be few but weighty, having an impact. This kind of ownership and responsibility is not only building a present generation but generations to come. Daniel, Shadrack, Mishack and Abednego were such people who influenced a nation, yet they were so young.

Family of God, you got this, you have so much word in you and so much power that you are an atmosphere changer. Your words count, use them wisely. You are a thriver!
