Meditating for Success
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 3 min read

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”
The promise of success and prosperity is tied to meditation, not just reading.
Meditation means actively chewing on the Word until it becomes part of your root.
Make the Word the final authority over every decision.
Meditation sometimes has a negative connotation to it as it brings to memory the eastern culture of meditation and singing of mantras. Meditation comes from the heart of our God. He said to Joshua, meditate on the word of God, day and night. Joshua was a man given to prayer and he was also a man of war. We understand that in prayer, Joshua would meditate on the laws of God but in warfare? It is exactly when God needed him to mediate on the word. The meditation of the word would keep his focus and he would not be distracted by anything the enemy would do or information he would receive regarding a battle he was engaged in. The meditation of the word would increase his faith and continuously show him how big our God is. Ponder on this, Joshua was sent out to war and he was standing on the wall looking out at the enemy who seems bigger than his army and possibility of failure seems eminent. While looking out, the voice of the spirit of God, reminds him, “fear not, I am with you, as I was with Moses, so shall I be with you”. Faith arises in the heart of Joshua as he meditates on this truth and fear flees. He goes forth to win the war, all because his meditation filled his heart and his eyes of faith, saw God bigger than the enemy.
In our own lives, we too have a choice to make. We go to church on Sunday and we hear the word of faith spoken. We hear about the finished works of Jesus, health, healing, prosperity and abundance. We go into our week and suddenly we are faced with a challenge, eg. A bad report from the doctor. This is where the meditation of the word comes to our memory. We hear the report of the doctor, but we already heard the word of truth on Sunday reminding us that we are the healed of the Lord. Now, we make a choice, do we believe the report of the doctor or the report of the Lord? Yes, the fact is that there is a bad report but we deny the fact the right to dominate our minds, we mediate on the word that says ‘by the stripes of Jesus, I am healed”. Meditation on the word is the investment into our lives that provides abundance and overflow when the currency of sickness and disease tries to eradicate our resources. We are the healed of the Lord. Our way is made prosperous by the word we have meditated on. Make it a priority in your life to meditate on the word of God, even if it is only one scripture at a time.
