The Christ Culture

“And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]”
Paul addresses this letter to the Roman church. They were a very young church who had just entered the kingdom of God. There were still traces of their old life and culture in their lives. They need to cast this life off and live in a new and living way. The culture of their old life was preventing them from living a holy life in Christ. They had to let go of the things of the past and renew their minds. Only the holy Spirit could help them renew their thinking and be transformed.
The entrance of the word gives light. Light speaks of transformation and change. As we receive the word of God into our hearts, the word begins to bring change and transformation. The Holy Spirit is in our hearts and he fills our heart with love and faith. These two characteristics become an integral part of our lives and begins the transformation process. This just means, what we used to do and the way we used to behave begins to change because the Holy Spirit starts us on this journey of the God life. Slowly you begin to see that your desires and wants begin to change. The way you used to be, somehow you cannot be like that anymore.
Grow in grace, wisdom and faith. Slowly the holy Spirit will help you grow in the God kind of culture, where sin becomes a thing of the past. You no longer adhere to the customs of this world. You learn the customs of the kingdom of God. This is a process, and a very necessary one. We are of the God culture, holiness, joy unspeakable and Holy Ghost power.
