Cultural Transformation
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]”
When we are born again, we come from a particular culture and way of doing things. We are accustomed to doing things a certain way. Perhaps drinking wine was ok in your home, or even swearing was allowed. When you come into the kingdom of God, no one will have to tell you that these habits are not ok. As you pray and fellowship with the Holy Spirit you will find you are slowly changed. When you want to swear, the words may not want to come out. Actually if you do swear, you feel embarrassed, so slowly you stop swearing or being vulgar. This is the work of the Holy Spirit who teaches us how to live in the Kingdom of God. There is a cultural transformation. You are transformed from the inside out. You may still look the same on the outside but the way you think, walk and talk, definitely changes. You now are a citizen of heaven, like royalty, you live a higher life. The lack in your life starts to disappear as you spend time in the presence of God. There is a culture of more than enough that comes into your life. The old way of living, the old culture just does not suit you anymore and you then choose God’s way of doing things.
Take on the culture of Christ and let the old ways be driven out by the power of God. The blessing enriches your life.
