A Diligent Heart

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.”
Proverbs 4:23 (AMP)

A careful instruction is given to us in this verse in Proverbs: “Watch over your heart.” When we are watchful, we do not allow the enemy entry into our hearts. When we allow the Holy Spirit to put a guard around our hearts, it becomes fortified and nothing can penetrate these walls. We become insulated and protected from the wiles of the devil. The second part of the verse says we should be diligent. This word indicates that the action we take needs to be intentional and decisive about watching our hearts. Why? Because the matters that affect our lives come from our heart—the very springs of our life. Our heart is where we keep our treasure, so we have to give much thought to what we allow to be stored in it. One of the greatest treasures we can store in our hearts is the Word of God, the promises of God, the name of Jesus, and the power of God. When your heart is filled with these things, then you can be sure, no matter what you face or what the issue is, you are connected to the source of life. His fountain of grace and anointing will fill your heart and life. You are made stable, steadfast, and unshakeable in the face of fear. No bad news from your family or doctor can make you back down. Keep yourself in this decision to guard your heart; your destiny and mandate depend on it. Giving in to issues will delay your success or send you on a long detour that should only have taken 11 days and now takes you 40 years. A thriver is reliant on the Holy Spirit to help them guard their heart at all times.
