A Soft Answer

“A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger”
Anger does not work or manifest the righteousness of God. Anger stirs up strife and angry words which create an environment of division and discord. When you find yourself in a situation where emotions are running high, both you and the person in the room have been stretched to the limit emotionally and are about to explode, step back. Maybe both of you are Christians and filled with the Holy Spirit but not both of you are mature. You be the better person and ask for time out or say to the person, I do not want to pursue this conversation as we will not get a good end to this discussion. I want to say I am sorry and let this thing go. Let your anger subside. It does not matter if the other person persists with their bad behaviour. You be mature, let the fruit of love pour out of you and let knowledge and understanding of the situation, give you the wisdom to walk away.
I am sure this sounds crazy and you must be saying, it’s easier said than done. Is it worth losing your peace over. Is it worth losing your brother or sister over. Is it losing your job over, just to be right? In the heat of the moment I am sure none of these things come to mind, but as you nail the thought of “a soft answer turns away wrath” in your knower, in your heart and mind, this will become a boundary line for you. This kind of behaviour change takes time but I guarantee you, as you practice patience and remember the bond of peace and humility, you will win this battle. There will always be opportunities where strife is waiting, like a dam ready to burst. You have the right to say no, I am not taking on this battle. I have more important things to accomplish.
The thriver is not perfect, but they have walked the road long enough to know there is a pit stop where they can recover and get back to walking in the spirit and overcome the flesh. Go thriver, you have won the battle of a soft answer, turns away anger.
