Loser to Winner

“But Gideon said to him, “Please my lord, if the LORD is with us, then why has all this happened to us? And where are all His wondrous works which our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian.”
In the above scripture we see a young man called Gideon who is in hiding and threshing wheat in a hidden place for fear of the enemy. The angel of the Lord was sent to him to equip him for battle. This would mean he had to come out of hiding. He was given a heavenly mandate so God was with him and would give him the victory over the enemy. Gideon could not receive this instruction from the angel, because his heart was filled with fear. His mind was filled with thoughts of how him and his tribe would be defeated by the enemy. So much so, that he believed God had abandoned them and given them into the hand of the Midian. God had plans for Gideon but he first had to get rid of the fear, before thoughts of victory and good success would bring him out and accomplish the great task at hand of overcoming the Midianites. Gideon eventually obeyed but he had a long way to go to begin to believe the might and power of God. He first selected 30000 men, because he believed it would take that many men to beat the enemy. God had other plans so he continued to build up the faith of Gideon. God then gave him strategy that overcome his small mindset and Gideon had victory over the enemy.
The point I am making here is, God is at work in your life. He who has begun a good work in you will complete it. He can work with your small mindset and he will not let up until there is a change. Why? He has a specific purpose for you, a task at hand and he wants you to fulfill it because you are the mandated one to fulfill that specific call. Gideon leaned on the arm of flesh thinking it would take 30000 men to overcome the Midianites but God let him win with just 300 men. Wow! God was patient with Gideon because it was time for the tribe to come out of hiding and win over the enemy who had kept them bound in their minds and hearts. Arise this is your time and season, put aside your small mindset and let the Holy Spirit cause you to rise up and accomplish the task at hand. Go into the world and make disciples. How you think matters. God both wills and will do his good pleasure in your life, just trust and believe.
A thriver is willing to have his/her mindset changed, it may be uncomfortable and go against everything the thriver knows, but God is willing to make the necessary changes for you to be a winner in this life.
