The Thriver’s Rest
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Thriving is found not in striving, but in resting in Christ’s work.
Come to Jesus and exchange your heavy burdens (survival weight) for His light yoke.
Rest is productive when it’s rooted in the finished work of the cross.
I love this call of Jesus to the whomsoever will respond. The weary, the depressed, the guilty, the one who is ashamed, the one who is burdened by problems or financial lack. He says, come, just ponder that word. Come! Come to me, Jesus, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens and I “will” give you rest. Not maybe or in the future, he just says I will give you rest. What a comfort, what a break through for each and every one of us that will heed this call.
Thriving is absolutely not found in your striving, Thriving is only found in resting in what Christ has already one. We start this journey of faith from the finished work of Christ. I have never seen someone start the race form the finish line. When we are at the finish line, it means we have finished the race. Hence, the faith we now have, is the faith of the son of God and not our faith. Understand this and receive it. Walk in it. Meditate on it, whatever we will need in this life has already been provided in the grace Jesus came to give. Give over everything that has you bound. Enter into God’s beautiful rest. Actually this verse goes on to say, take my burden for my burden is easy and my yoke is easy. When he overwhelms your life, there is a peace and a joy that is so real and beautiful. Please accept this invitation.
Rest is most productive when it is rooted in the finished work of the cross. It is a reality we need to embrace whenever the we are overwhelmed with the issues of life. Jesus is beautiful and wonderful.
