Guarding Our Hearts

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you”
Prov 4v23-24

We are the custodians of our hearts. What we allow in, will affect our lives. It affects our thinking, our feeling and our responses to life. The word of God says, we need to keep our hearts with all diligence, like an army protects its borders so enemies do not invade, likewise we are responsible for our hearts so no enemy can come in and devour .

The Holy Spirit shed the love of God abroad our hearts and hence we are able to be partakers of the love of God. Likewise, the enemy will try his best to deposit hatred, disappointment, despondency and depression into our hearts and if we allow this entry into our lives, it becomes the issues this scripture is talking about. The matters or the issues of the heart are heard from our speaking. A good man from the good treasure of his heart brings forth good fruit and an evil man from the evil treasure of his heart, brings forth evil or bad fruit. We need to tend the garden of our hearts. We can enjoy peace or chaos just by allowing our hearts to be affected by negative things. The Holy Spirit lives in our hearts so we need to give over the custody of our hearts to him so He is able to keep our hearts in perfect peace all the days of our life.
