The Word as a Road Map

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 3 min read

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119v105

We do not get to plan our journey in this life of ours. The bible says that the footsteps of a righteous man are ordered of the Lord. The Father says in his word, I know the plans I have for you, for good and not for evil (Jer. 29v11). He said to Abraham when he called him, go to a land that I will show you. He had to leave his country and his family behind. It took faith. There was no map or GPS given, Abraham had to go by Faith. Abraham took God at his word and walked the journey. He based his compass on the word of promise God gave to him. His promise was sure, was what Abraham believed and he became known as the Father of faith.

In this life, we too will be taken on this journey of life, but we have something Abraham never had. We have the map of the word of God. The map of the word has clear direction of his will and purpose. We have a guide and teacher to lead us and guide us, the Holy Spirit. Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father and we are seated with him in heavenly places. We are never alone, Jesus is with us always. When we do not know what to do, we can consult the word, Jesus is the word and He answers us with his words. He gives us his strength for the journey. We even have an executive security team that keeps us safe 24/7, the angels of God who are sent to protect us. In our arsenal is the word of God, that is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, diving asunder the bone and the marrow and the very intent of the heart. He never leaves us with a way out. He never gives us more than we can endure. The terrain is individually designed and we have a season for every stop or destination in our life. He equips us at every station for the road ahead. No weapon fashioned against us will prosper. We will reach the other side. We can speak to the storms of life and command it to stop in Jesus name. When fear tries to creep in and we see shadows that look like ghosts, Jesus says, do not be afraid. Like Peter we can call out to Jesus and say, if it is you, call out to me so that I can come to you, walking on water. Jesus indeed says come and you will walk on water. What do I mean? There are situations in life that seem so impossible that your trust in the Lord becomes the water you walk on, and as long as you keep your eyes on Jesus, you will walk. When your eyes shift to the storm and the winds of adversity and fear, you will sink. Be of good cheer, keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith and you will be taken to safety, walking on the water with Jesus. Trust and believe today. You are not alone. Jesus is your GPS, leading you and guiding you.
