Setting the Word as your Standard

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.”
Isaiah 59v19

The word of God contains millions of examples of the many men and women in the bible who have walked with our God. He relates stories after stories, of the good, the bad and the ugly. However, through it all we see the mercy of God, the plan of God and we notice that God works all things together for our good. The worst scenarios of evil are turned around for our good. An example of this is the life of Joseph. His brothers wanted to kill him, but God did not allow them to kill him as He had a plan for Joseph’s life. Yet, in all of the pit, Potipher’s house and the prison, Joseph was being trained for leadership to lead a nation. As Joseph yielded to the will of God, he was the man God used to save his people. He said to his brothers, you meant this for evil, but God planned ahead of time so it actually worked out for my good (Gen.50v20).

The word of God is the standard for our lives. When we hear something and we do not agree, go to the word and discover what the word says about the subject that is disturbing you. The spirit of the Lord sets the standard in our lives. He guards and protects us even in the midst of battle. His way is the only way. If we are stubborn and persist in our own evil way, there are consequences and they are not pretty. Whatever we sow, we shall reap. What we do and how we act counts.

Let the word of God become the standard in your life, Jesus is enough in your life to keep you all the days of your life. He will never leave you nor forsake you. The word of God and the spirit of God in your life empowers and enables you, so let the Holy Spirit set the standard for your life today.
