The Culture of Honesty

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
2Timothy 2v2

The world says, honesty is the best policy. I agree. Honesty is linked to your integrity. When you are honest, you are transparent. Honest earns trust. Honesty earns respect. People begin to trust you when you are honesty and know that you are a person who will keep their word.

The above scripture starts out with the instruction for us to pray for those in authority so that we can live a quiet and peaceable life. We need to be praying for those in authority so that they too can be honest and have integrity so that we can live a peaceable and honest, Godly life.

The culture of honesty is developed over time. The first part of this training starts in the home. Parents and elders in a home inculcate this honesty in a child from a young age. They become mentors to the young people and those around them breeding a culture of honesty and transparency. If we want an honest society, let it begin with us. Let honesty prevail even at the cost of you losing something. Honesty is a necessity for a society to flourish and grow in strength, advancing forward.

It is the Holy Spirit who lives in us who teaches us to be honest and make the right choices not only for ourselves but for those around us as well.
