The Culture of Higher Moral Ground

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.”
1Timothy 1v18-20

Paul gives clear instructions to Timothy, his son in the faith. The instructions is to live well and share the gospel of grace with clarity and purpose. The purpose of the instruction is to create a culture of higher moral living. What is higher moral living. The ability to live life according to God’s rules and ways. Making choices that glorify God and be a blessing to the kingdom of God.

In the kingdom of God, we are constantly being changed from day to day, from grace to grace and victory to victory. What we could do or accept in the past for our lives, is not something we can accept and live by today. Our daily lives is being transformed by the Holy Spirit living inside of us. We live life with integrity and honesty, not because we want to, but because we are being transformed into the image and likeness of God. The love of God compels us and as a result we do not want to sin or do anything evil. The thought of evil repels us. Salvation brings us a nothing missing, nothing broken life. A life of blessing and overflow. In this nothing missing, nothing broken life, we super naturally choose a life of higher moral ground. Ethics are important to us and how we treat people is even more important, because this is important to our God. The Holy Spirit cultivates this culture in us as we grow closer to him, each and every day.
