God’s Way Not Our Way

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock? And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also”
Num 20v7-11

Moses was called, Moses was appointed, He had a mission and a purpose for his life. His call was to lead God’s people out of Eygypt. He a special man, born at a appointed time to do a specific task. God gave him a specific instruction. Strike the rock once and give the congregation water. When Moses stood before the people, their complaints got him so angry that he struck the rock twice. An emotional decision out of anger cost him. The price he paid was that he never got to enter the promised land. He went to the top of the mountain and he could see the promised land but never entered in himself. He decided to do things in the flesh, in doing so he missed the timing of God and there was no grace on him to fulfill the call and purpose on his life.

He was sent to the back side of the desert for 40 years to have his heart cultivated into fellow ground. Then only did he come out and lead God’s people.

Family of God, we are allowed many things, but not all things are good for us. We need to know the word so our heart is trained to hear the voice of God. When we know the voice of God, we never make decisions that are outside of his will. We keep the word as an instruction and a guardrail in our lives. We just cannot afford to make decisions that please our flesh, it will cost us too much. Follow God’s way.
