Born to Be Free

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee”
It was a beautiful day and the day for the eagle to be released. There was much excitement about them releasing the eagle. However, the excitement soon died down and turned to frustration. Why? Because on opening the cage, the eagle refused to fly. The eagle had been locked in the cage for 10 years and the ten years of life in the cage seemed to have trapped its mind in an invisible closure. It was no longer the cage that held him captive, but his mind that assumed the cage was still a limitation. No amount of prodding or prompting seemed to help. However, after a few hours, he heard another the call of another eagle and immediately the zoo-eagle took off in flight. What happened? When he saw the other eagle flying, he realized he too was born to fly and took flight.
Beloved of God, many of us are the same. We are held captive with our way of thinking. We are stuck in the past, we remain in our hurts, etc. we are insecure so never venture out. We blame others for being our cage, yet the cage is of our own making. I adjure you, by the mercies of God, change the way you think. You are born to be free. You can only be free as you give yourself over to the Holy Spirit and He brings revelation and opens up the eyes of your understanding. You are born to be free!
When we are free, we have the responsibility to give this good news to others.
