Heart Trained Decision

“But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself”
Daniel, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego were the Hebrew boys who were captured and brought to the land of the Chaldeans. They were brought to the courts of the King who wanted them trained to serve in the courts of the king. He selected the very best from amongst the Hebrews who were captured, because he knew there were already skilled in learning and would add tremendous value to his kingdom.
He even gave instructions on what they should eat and drink so preparation was made for them to enjoy the fat of the land so they were could representatives of the king. This would include meals that were not Kosher and drink that these Hebrew boys were not allowed to drink according to their customs. Daniel, made a decision. He refused. He was captured and served in the kings court, but the captivity would not steal his faith and belief from him. He had the word of the law intrenched in his mind and heart. It could have been a costly decision, but he made it anyway. He wanted to follow the ways of the Lord and came to that decision knowing it could mean death. His decision triggered the favour of God on his life and the Eunuch agreed to his request. The decision was what triggered the favour and the manifestation of the blessing was evident for all to see. These young Hebrew boys fared much better than all the others who were in the kings court and they found favour in the sight of the king.
God protected them and kept them. Daniel was an outstanding leader and a heartfelt leader who chose God rather than the dainties of the king. He became a voice and a presence to be noticed. He was a representative of God.
We too, will have many decisions we will have to make in this life. Some will cost us dearly, but in making the decision for God, God will favour us and protect us in the midst of our enemies. We just need to trust and belief what we have been trained and taught to do.
