Joy as a Weapon
Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full”
These are the words of Jesus, asking that we abide in His love. The instruction here is that we obey his commandments. Love is a commandment, love equips us with zillions of possibilities. It removes the stress from our lives, eg. The expectation of perfection from others. Why? Love is forgiving, love sees no wrong, love sees the best in others and love covers a multitude of sins. Love is the important ingredient in every successful relationship, both in our own home and in the market place. When we abide in the love of God, Jesus’s love lives in us and remains in us. Love and joy go together and then our joy is full. This brings us back to the word salvation (Soteria), a nothing missing, nothing broken life.
The joy of the Lord is our strength. Joy brings strength to our lives and the enemy cannot hold us down or attack our minds with his fiery darts. We have a strength that comes from within and gives us the power, through the Holy Spirit to fight back, to stand up and fight against the wiles of the enemy. We are strengthened with might on the inner man by the Holy Spirit of God. Joy is tied to the strength we will enjoy in our lives to live full lives. If we allow the enemy to steal our joy, we are actually giving him access to our strength to withstand his attacks. Do not give in, nor give up. The joy of the Lord is your strength and will sustain you, day by day. Let Jesus’s joy give you a full life. Joy is our weapon against the enemy.
