The Joy of the Lord

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“Then Ezra said to them, “Go [your way], eat the rich festival food, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be worried, for the joy of the LORD is your strength and your stronghold.”
Nehemiah 8v10

The Joy of the Lord is our strength. We have to make a decision to be joyful always. If anyone costs you your joy, it is too expensive. It is in our joy that we keep up our strength. So never let go of the joy of the Lord. You literally feel your strength sapped from you when joy leaves. It could be an incident, it could be a person or an unfulfilled expectation that makes you let go of your joy. Nothing is worth letting go of your joy. You have to remain determined to keep joyful. Once you feel the joy leaving your life, start to praise and worship. Start to thank God for all He has done in your life. It is vital for you to keep your joy.

This is very difficult for people who are generally serious and find it hard to laugh. Critical people find joy a little offensive as they always see the things that are wrong instead of the things that are right. In this instance, you have to engage the Holy Spirit and ask him to help you to overcome the challenges you are facing that is robbing you of your joy. Life in the holy Spirit is joy unspeakable and full of glory.

The joy of the Lord is your strength and you have the right to live constantly in that joy. Give up the grumpiness for the joy of the Lord. When you lose your joy, you give the devil a door opener to mess with you. The joy keeps the devil out.
