Being All Things to All Men

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you”
1Cor 9v22-23

Our world is made up of relationships. We interact with many kinds of people throughout our day and through out our lives. It would be safe to say then that we should be sensitive to the culture and ways of people. It prepares you on how to handle the way they react or respond to you. Paul had this down to a fine art in his life. He became all things to all men.

When he visited a city, he would walk around and try to find out as much as he could about the people in the city. In the city of Athens, he saw a stature that said “to the unknown God”. He immediately took note of this and when he started talking to the people in the city, he began to explain to them who the unknown God was. It was a strategic observation and gave him a platform to gain access into their lives.

The world says, “know your enemy”, we Christians seem to avoid our enemy. Jesus said love your enemy and pray for them that despitefully use you. The spirit of the Lord is in you and upon you, so he will lead you and guide you on what to do and when to do it. You are an ambassador, carrying in you a license to win and save people from hell. Use your God given authority to cast out devils, heal the sick and win the lost to Christ.

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone” Col.4v5-6

For Paul, to season graceful conversation with salt was to painstakingly adapt his approach to each situation that he faced.
