Turning the Other Cheek

Pastor Zubeda Sing · 2 min read

“But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.”
Matthew 5v39-42

Forgiveness, what a precious gift to give to someone. It is one of the greatest decisions you can make for yourself. If you choose to forgive, you leave the door open for an avalanche of the goodness of God towards you.

The above scripture is not asking you to be a doormat but rather to go the extra mile in a relationship with others. Give of yourself and be generous. This is part of the love walk we are called to. We are made in the image and likeness of God, as he is, so are we in this world. We have the gift of hospitality, be hospitable to others. Be observant so you will notice the need of others. In all your getting get understanding so you learn to understand others.

When someone is acting out, do not react, rather respond lovingly. There is always a reason someone is acting out. It is not your fault that they are misbehaving, but the fact that you noticed it, means you have a contribution to make. God has allowed you to be there to meet a need or even give advice where you need to. The spirit of discernment will show you exactly what to do. In all your doing and giving, you too will reap a harvest back when you are in. need.
