Practice the Presence of God

“Cornelius stared hard, wondering if he was seeing things. Then he said, “What do you want, sir?”
The angel said, “Your prayers and neighborly acts have brought you to God’s attention. Here’s what you are to do. Send men to Joppa to get Simon, the one everyone calls Peter. He is staying with Simon the Tanner, whose house is down by the sea.” Acts 10v4-6
I marvel when I read this scripture, here was a man who did not even know God or was in a covenant with God. He was just a man who made it his duty to pray to a God who he did not even know very well. His diligence in practicing this art of prayer brought him into a position where God heard him and saw the things he was doing to gain his attention. This habit he had developed to know this God was not only for him, but the people who were under his command were influenced by his behaviour and his way of seeking God.
In his pursuit of God, God was able to seek out a man who was also diligent in practicing the presence of God, Simon Peter. God created the connection between the two. Why? God is looking for those who practice being in his presence and then he is able to create opportunities that are impossible for man to create. Seeking God and practicing being in his presence create a God opportunity where heaven goes to work on your behalf. Things that are impossible become possible, the supernatural becomes naturally possible because in his presence there is fullness of joy and at his right hand are pleasures forever more.
Cornelius and his whole household were saved because of his pursuit of God. Peter was available because of him practicing the presence of God. This was the beginning of the ministry of the gospel to the gentiles. Wow! Just practicing the presence of God can change the course of your life.
